Executive Board of Directors

Elie Wiesel, Honorary Chairman of the Board: Holocaust survivor, Nobel Peace Laureate, and master teacher, he is known for his passion for peace and his concern for memory as a humanizing force. In his many artistic and philosophical works, he has pointed to the tragic syndromes whereby the memory of pain legitimates future bloodshed.

Thomas L. McNaugher, Chairman of the Board: Graduate of West Point, Harvard PhD, Vice President for Army Studies at the RAND Corporation, and former senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, he writes about military strategy, civil-military relations, and regional security issues.

Hillel Levine, President: Professor of sociology and religion at Harvard, Yale, and now Boston University, and visiting professor at many foreign universities, he helped facilitate the first workshops between Israelis and Palestinians organized at Harvard in the early 1970s. Mr. Levine has since conducted research and written books and articles on ethnic and religious conflict. In 1989, he was first sent by the US Department of State as a consultant to China and Japan. He continues that work in those countries as well as South Korea, Cambodia, and India.

Ken Brown: Lawyer, real estate developer, and entrepreneur, he divides his time between New York and Southeast Asia. He is the former president of the New York Division of the American Jewish Committee and serves on its National Board.

Wilder Knight: Lawyer and international media expert, he is particularly active in Germany and concerned with education about World War II, the media representation of its different facets, and the institutions that support this.

Richard Koerner: A Holocaust survivor who later lived in Israel, Canada, and the US, Mr. Koerner is a business executive. He co-founded NEC’s semiconductor business in the U.S. and, more recently, High Speed Solutions Corporation, an Intel Company.

Ulrich Michel: Professional mediator and lawyer, Mr. Michel is a partner of the law firm Nörr Stiefenhofer Lutz with wide experience in advising national and international clients from the media sector in all sector specific issues. He also lectures at the University for Film and Television in Potsdam and the European University Viadrina on media law and film copyright.

Jean- Louis Sarbib: Managing Director at Wolfensohn and Company, L.L.C. He currently chairs the board of the Development Gateway Foundation and serves on the boards of the GAVI Fund, the Micronutrient Initiative, and World Links.

Emmanuel Tchividjian, Treasurer: Senior Vice President of Ruder Finn, the leading public service oriented public relations firm in the world. He specializes in ethical problems in advertisement and public relations.
